It’s easier to take photographs as an outsider. Or is it? I am a nostalgic outsider from the inside, carrying the Southeastern Chinese DNA in me. I left my homeland and have lived in America for a decade now. The images in South of the Mountain Range are my visual survey about going home.

I ground myself between nature and the industrial landscape.
I share the isolation and loneliness with millennials with only the ground glass in between us.
I look at my subjects’ eyes, smiles, and body language for new connections.
I freeze the smell I dearly miss, an anonymous smell in Southeastern China in typhoon season.
I bring the sense of belonging back in my body to everywhere I go.

) is a 5x10in accordion book, folding in and out of memories, sweet or sour, good or bad, alive or dead. It genuinely provides a resting place for the remaining complicated somehow timeless sentiments to be processed.
